The Pacific Center for Special Care offers informative events throughout the year.
Across California, people suffer from dental disease and are unable to get the care they need. Children, frail and homebound elders, adults with developmental disabilities, rural community residents, and others are unable to access care in traditional office and clinic settings. The Virtual Dental Home (VDH) is a community-based oral health delivery system in which people receive dental diagnostic, preventive and early intervention services in community settings. Through telehealth technology, allied dental professionals in the community are linked with dentists in dental offices and clinics, facilitating access to the full dental team and comprehensive dental care to patients who face many barriers to visiting dental offices and clinics.
The Pacific Center for Special Care will be holding a one day continuing dental education program on the VDH to share this innovative delivery system. Attendees will learn about what it takes to create a successful telehealth team using effective internal and external communication, administrative structure and management, and site and team selection, as well as practical information on billing for teledentistry services, registering intermittent clinics, and other regulatory procedures.
Please join Dr. Paul Glassman and Maureen Harrington from the Pacific Center for Special Care and Emili LaBass from the California Primary Care Association for an in-depth discussion of how VDH can improve care for underserved populations. All events take place 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. For more information, contact Michael Au at email@example.com.
PLEASE NOTE: The San Francisco course scheduled for November 19 will address the issues of both health centers and private practice clinicians.
