

Dr. Joseph V. Levy is currently professor and chair of the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology. He has served on many national and local commissions and panels, including the Drug Interactions Task Force of the American Pharmaceutical Association and the Vascular Task Force of the National Institutes of Health. Levy currently serves as a member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics and Formulary Committees of California Pacific Medical Center.
Levy is the recipient of numerous scholarships, awards and fellowships, including a Research Career Development Award from the NIH and Pacific's Eberhardt Teacher-Scholar Award. He has lectured on a variety of topics throughout the globe, including modern concepts in treating inflammatory conditions, pain management and drug interactions.
Levy has authored more than 130 scientific articles in journals and books dealing with physiology and pharmacology. His current research focuses on basic and clinical pharmacology of new analgesics and anesthetic agents and mechanisms involving pain.
Levy is an active member of several professional societies including the American Physiological Society, American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics and the Society for Experimental Biology and Medicine. He received his undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral training at Stanford University, UCLA and University of Washington.
