Northern California Section of the ACD Honors Three Members of the Pacific Dugoni Family

The Northern California section of the American College of Dentists (ACD) recognized outstanding dental students, educators and professionals during a dinner held at The Olympic Club at Lakeside on Sunday, May 4. The University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry and University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry also honored their selections for the Outstanding Student Leader Award and Distinguished Faculty Award.

Daniel TanitaThe Dr. Willard C. Fleming Meritorious Service Award was presented to Dr. Daniel Tanita '73 in recognition of his tireless efforts to improve the dental health of elementary school children in Contra Costa County. In addition to his work advancing children's health in the community, Tanita serves as the Pacific Dugoni Annual Fund Chair on the Pacific Dugoni Foundation Board.  

Dr. Alan Gluskin received the Distinguished Faculty award for his excellent work as an educator at the Dugoni School of Dentistry where he serves as a full-time faculty member and co-chair of the Endodontics Department. His recent accomplishments include serving on the national Board of Directors of the American Association of Endodontists between 2011 and 2014.  

Jesse MantonJesse Manton, DDS Class of 2014 student, was awarded the Outstanding Student Leader Award for demonstrated leadership and outstanding scholastic performance. He currently serves as president of the DDS Class of 2014 and has proven to be an outstanding student through his performance in and out of the classroom.  

"I wholly believe that a leader cannot achieve success without a great team and support network," said Manton. "I am so humbled by this award, and the honor should be shared with my wife, family, friends and colleagues for their love, support, hard work and collaborative efforts."  

Founded in 1920, the ACD is the oldest major honorary organization for dentists with a mission to advance excellence, ethics, professionalism and leadership in dentistry. ACD members have exemplified excellence through outstanding leadership and exceptional contributions to dentistry and society. Membership is by invitation only and currently includes more than 7,400 active and retired fellows.
