ASDA Chapter Hosts Vendor Fair Showcasing Newest Dental Products, Services and Technologies

Students interact with representatives at the Vendor Fair.

April  19, 2013

Representatives from more than 25 companies recently visited the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry to showcase a variety of products, services and technologies to the school community at the annual ASDA Vendor Fair. The school's American Student Dental Association (ASDA) chapter organized the April 17 fair as a way to educate students, faculty and staff about some of the products in the marketplace while also raising money to support student activities.

Attendees enjoyed complimentary appetizers and beverages while exploring the vendor tables and mingling with the exhibitors and each other. Raffle prizes - including iPad minis, electric toothbrushes, gift cards and other dentistry-related items - were given out at the end of the evening.

The money raised from this event assists the school's ASDA chapter in funding various activities throughout the year, including lunchtime events and travel opportunities for student leaders such as participation in National Dental Student Lobby Day in Washington, D.C. and the ASDA Annual Meeting.

Participating companies and organizations included: ADA Insurance, Brasseler USA, CDA/TDIC, Colgate Oral Pharmaceuticals, Crosstex, DentalEZ, Designs for Vision, GlaxoSmithKline, Heartland Dental Care, Hu-Friedy, Ivoclar Vivadent, Johnson & Johnson, Jostens, Kool Smiles, Lutheran Medical Center, Medical Protective, Oakstone, Orascoptic, Pacific Dental Services, Patterson Dental, Procter & Gamble, Philips Sonicare & Zoom Whitening, SurgiTel/General Scientific Corporation, Ultradent, Ultralight Optics and Western Dental.

"The Vendor Fair is a really fun way to feature a variety of different companies and services while bringing the school community together," said Poppy Montana-Marie Carlig, a member of the Class of 2014 and one of the event coordinators. "Thanks to everyone involved in this year's Vendor Fair for supporting our school and ASDA Chapter. Special recognition goes to Medical Protective and Pacific Dental Services for their gold level sponsorship support."

ASDA is a national student-run organization whose mission is to protect and advance the rights, interests and welfare of students pursuing careers in dentistry. More than 87% of all dental students nationwide join the association. At the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, 100% of DDS and IDS students are members of ASDA.
