One of America's most visible dentists, Dr. Bill Dorfman '83, recently visited the Dugoni School of Dentistry to share his thoughts about excelling in dentistry and beyond.
The evening event, hosted by the dental school's Aesthetics Club, drew more than 150 attendees who gathered in the William Dorfman-Discus Dental Auditorium to hear Dorfman talk about his background, successful career and his advice for current dental students.
During his high-energy and engaging presentation, Dorfman talked about his time as a student at the Dugoni School of Dentistry, his path after graduation and what he is doing today. He shared stories and thoughts on being a successful dental professional, and the variety of opportunities that are open to students after they graduate from dental school.
He discussed how dentistry can open up the doors to many other avenues in life. In his case, it has involved providing care to celebrity clients and participating in media opportunities, business successes, philanthropic endeavors and more.
"I'm here today to inspire young dental students and to let them know about the great opportunities that exist in dentistry," said Dorfman. "I had no idea that dentistry could open up so many doors for me, the possibilities are endless."
Dorfman practices all aspects of dentistry and specializes in cosmetic dentistry at his practice at Century City Aesthetic Dentistry in Century City, Calif. He is widely recognized as a leading dentist responsible for creating smiles for many of Hollywood's brightest stars.
He also is one of the most visible dentists in the media and appears regularly on television. He was the dentist on the ABC series "Extreme Makeover" and is guest co-host of CBS daytime talk show "The Doctors." Dorfman is the author of Billion Dollar Smile and The Smile Guide and is the founder of Discus Dental, a professional dental materials and equipment company acquired last year by Philips. His philanthropic involvement includes co-founding the LEAP Foundation, which provides leadership training for high school and college students, and support of University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry.
