Dr. Nader Nadershahi, executive associate dean and associate dean for Academic Affairs at University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, has been named the newest member of the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations (JCNDE).
The JCNDE is the agency responsible for the development and administration of the National Board Dental Examinations. The 15-member commission includes representatives from dental schools, dental practice, state dental examining boards, dental hygiene, dental students and the public. The National Board Examinations assist state boards in determining qualifications of dentists and dental hygienists seeking licensure to practice. These examinations assess the ability to understand important information from basic biomedical and dental or dental hygiene sciences as well as the ability to apply such information in a problem-solving context.
"As a dental education appointee, I look forward to joining colleagues from across the country involved in overseeing these important exams that are designed to be valid and reliable in assessing our students," said Dr. Nadershahi.
Dr. Nadershahi is a fellow of the International and American College of Dentists, the Academy of Dentistry International and the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and serves on the board of directors of the International Federation of Dental Educators and Associations. He graduated with a DDS degree from Pacific Dugoni in 1994 and also holds an MBA from University of the Pacific's Eberhardt School of Business and an EdD from the Benerd School of Education. His background includes owning and operating a private general dentistry practice in San Anselmo, California.
