Eighteen students from the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry have been inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, the oldest and largest interdisciplinary honor society in the United States. The Dugoni School of Dentistry students joined distinguished peers from Pacific's Stockton and Sacramento campuses at a recognition ceremony held April 8 at University of the Pacific's main campus.

Phi Kappa Phi inductees were all ranked in the top 10% of their respective classes. Sixteen students from the DDS Class of 2011 and two students from the International Dental Studies (IDS) Class of 2011 were admitted.

In addition to recognizing academic achievement, Phi Kappa Phi offers opportunities to assist members throughout their academic and professional lives. Awards and scholarships, career assistance and training opportunities are among the benefits offered to active members.

"Induction into Phi Kappa Phi speaks volumes about these students' dedication to learning," said Dr. Nader Nadershahi, executive associate dean and associate dean for academic affairs, who attended the ceremony to recognize the students' achievement. "I would like to extend my congratulations to the dental students who recently joined the honor society. Being ranked in the top 10% of one's class is a tremendous accomplishment."
