Several faculty members from the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry contributed to the fifth edition of a textbook focused on periodontics, Hall’s Critical Decisions in Periodontology and Dental Implantology.
The book is designed to guide students and practitioners in applying their decision-making knowledge in a structured and logical manner whether in diagnosis, treatment selections and options, procedures in various treatments, or evaluating outcomes.
Dr. Lisa Harpenau, professor in the Department of Periodontics, was the lead editor of the book. Drs. William Lundergan and Richard Kao, both faculty members at the Dugoni School, also served as editors. The text is organized by clinical problems and is meant to help the dental practitioner make on-target decisions for optimal outcomes. Each chapter consists of an algorithm (or decision tree) and explanatory text with illustrations, tables and photographs.
Formerly called Decision Making in Periodontology, the fifth-edition text has been updated and expanded, providing an array of topics and new techniques in periodontal therapy and dental implantology. The book is intended as a reference for general dentists, dental specialists, residents, dental hygienists and those preparing for specialty boards. It includes insights from 100 contributing authors who have shared their expertise and reasoning behind their decision making, representing both North American and international thinking.
Hall’s Critical Decisions in Periodontology and Dental Implantology, Fifth Edition, is available on Amazon.com.
