Senior leaders from the Wenzhou Medical College in China recently toured the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry and discussed global dental education trends with Dean Patrick J. Ferrillo, Jr. and other members of the administration.

Dean Ma Jian Feng and several colleagues from Wenzhou Medical College visited the school on Aug. 10 to learn more about the Dugoni School of Dentistry's educational approach.

Dr. Eddie Hayashida, Associate Dean for Administration, gave the delegation a tour of the school, which included stops in the classrooms, simulation lab, main clinic and new oral surgery operatories. Dean Ferrillo spent time with the group to discuss the Dugoni School of Dentistry's educational mission, as well as opportunities for collaboration between dental educators in the United States and China. Dean Ferrillo also presented the school's Global Initiative in Dental Education and shared a copy of the initiative with Dean Ma Jian Feng. The day concluded with an appreciation dinner and socializing.

The meeting was organized by Dr. Colin Wong '65, a board member of the Pacific Dugoni Foundation and an Alumni Association past president who has long been active in humanitarian work and study-abroad opportunities in China.

"It was an honor to welcome Dean Ma Jian Feng and the entire group to see our campus and learn more about our programs," said Dean Ferrillo. "In turn, it was a wonderful chance to learn more about the innovations and educational experiences taking place at Wenhzou Medical College and other dental schools in China. These types of meetings and cultural exchanges are an important part of staying on the forefront of dental education trends around the world."

Wenzhou Medical College, designated as a key university in Zhejiang, is an institution of higher learning under the leadership of Zhejiang Provincial Government. The Hospital of Stomatology, established in 2002, offers dental treatment, education, clinical training and scientific research.
