The Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry named Dr. Anders Nattestad as professor and director of undergraduate oral and maxillofacial surgery. Nattestad will be responsible for academic affairs and curriculum for the predoctoral oral and maxillofacial surgery program, as well as operations for the oral surgery clinic in San Francisco.
"I am pleased to have Dr. Anders Nattestad join the faculty at the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry," said Dr. Patrick J. Ferrillo, Jr., the dental school's dean. "I have had the great privilege of working with him in many capacities and we are fortunate to have such a distinguished researcher, teacher and internationally renowned scholar in dental education at Pacific."
Prior to joining Pacific, Nattestad served as professor and head of oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine. He previously held the position of chair of the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, where he also earned his DDS degree, PhD and specialization in oral and maxillofacial surgery. He spent the last 10 years on the executive committee for DentEd, an extensive European Union project to harmonize dental education. Nattestad is a fellow of the American Dental Education Association Leadership Institute, a reviewer for the Journal of Dental Education and the author of more than 40 published articles.
