New Alum’s Dental Practice Recognized for Community Service, Providing Care to San Franciscans

September  22, 2011

The Greater Geary Boulevard Merchants Association recently honored the dentists of 4444 Geary Boulevard for their contributions to the health and vitality of San Francisco residents. Dr. Josh Berd '10, his father Dr. Mikhail Berdichevsky IDS '93 and mother Dr. Nina Izraylevich '99 were celebrated for years of service and dedication to patients during the Greater Geary Boulevard Merchants Association's 65th annual award ceremony held on Sept. 14.

One of a handful of businesses honored at the ceremony, the practice was celebrated for patient care, community involvement and contributions to the greater community of San Francisco. Praise was offered to award recipients by San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee; Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi; California State Senators Leland Yee and Mark Leno; California Assemblywoman Fiona Ma; and other civic and business leaders who were in attendance at the event.

"I am humbled by this honor and feel privileged to provide dental care to the community in which I grew up," commented Berd.

Berd has been practicing at his dental office at 4444 Geary Boulevard — formerly his parent's dental practice — since graduating from the Dugoni School of Dentistry. He is very engaged in community service and regularly gives back to San Francisco by participating in the city's Project Homeless Connect program and the San Francisco Dental Society's Community Dental Health Committee. He also recently joined University of the Pacific's dental school faculty, and teaches dental anatomy to first-year students.

The Greater Geary Boulevard Merchants Association represents hundreds of businesses located along Geary Boulevard, one of San Francisco's most vibrant and well-known streets.
