New Annual Report on Philanthropy Celebrates Donor Impact on School’s People and Programs

November  08, 2011

The Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry this month released its 2011 Annual Report on Philanthropy, which celebrates the generosity of its supporters and takes a look at some of the ways that philanthropy has supported excellence in dental education. The Dugoni School boasts a highly generous group of alumni, friends and students who have given back to the school throughout the past year in the form of time, expertise and financial contributions.

Highlights of the report include donor profiles and photos; class giving totals; examples of people and projects supported through gifts; an "Honor Roll" of gifts from individuals, foundations and companies; the historical performance of the University's endowment and other information of interest to school supporters.

Donations from the past year have supported numerous school enhancements including technology upgrades; scholarship funding for students; and expanded faculty and staff development programs. It has also allowed the school to offer free and below market-rate patient care for underserved children and families. The annual report shows progress on these donor-supported projects, along with many others.

One of the Dugoni School of Dentistry's seven core values is philanthropy, defined as "investing time, talent and asset." From students volunteering in the community, to friends and alumni offering their financial support, philanthropy is something the dental school holds in high regard and relies on to keep the school on the forefront of dental education and positioned as a community leader.

This year's report has been released in advance of National Philanthropy Day, which falls on November 15 every year. Presented by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), National Philanthropy Day celebrates the importance of charitable giving and the positive effects giving can have on an institution or community. The AFP also encourages the public to give wisely and offers tips on selecting charitable causes and ways to make charitable gifts go further.
