Pacific Dugoni Foundation Announces New Identity

The new logo better communicates the Foundation's mission and goals.

July  08, 2009

The philanthropic arm of University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry recently announced an updated identity and new tagline to help better communicate the group's mission.

Formerly known as the Pacific Dental Education Foundation, the Pacific Dugoni Foundation raises funds to help the school advance oral health for the public through dental education. The new name, which took effect July 1, aims to integrate the influence of Dean Emeritus Dr. Arthur A. Dugoni into the Foundation's identity and make a stronger connection to the school, which was renamed in Dugoni's honor in 2004. The Foundation also adopted a new tagline, "Advancing Oral Health through Philanthropy."

The Foundation's volunteer board of directors works closely with Dean Patrick J. Ferrillo, Jr. and the School of Dentistry's development team to promote philanthropy on behalf of the school.

First established in 1980 as the P&S Club, the Pacific Dugoni Foundation's mission is to ensure that the dental school has the resources it needs to realize its visions and goals. The Foundation's board organizes its work around three standing committees: Dean's Fund for Excellence, Principal Gifts and Kids in the Klinic, which produces the highly successful wine auction, golf tournaments and fashion show.

"This identity update will help us communicate our mission as we move forward with our development initiatives and fundraising events," said Gary Mitchell, president of the Pacific Dugoni Foundation. "We have a strong, successful tradition of supporting the school and positively impacting the public by encouraging philanthropy that advances oral health."

The Foundation's board voted to adopt the updated identity during its April 2009 quarterly meeting, following input from board members and an Identity subcommittee.
