Overview

Our mission is to provide the highest level of care for our patients and to educate undergraduate dental students in the art and science of dental implant treatment. We offer a comprehensive approach to the replacement of missing teeth through implant dentistry. Our team comprises specialists in the field including oral and maxillofacial surgeons, prosthodontists and administrators. Dental implants can provide patients with a smile that looks and feels natural.

Services

Patients require implants for a variety of reasons, including congenitally missing teeth and teeth lost due to a trauma. Dental implants are artificial roots, usually made of titanium, that serve as an anchor for replacement teeth. Implants may be used to replace one or several missing teeth and hold complete dentures securely against the gums. We provide dental implants, artificial teeth and denture fabrication, as well as follow-up and maintenance to ensure the continued success of the implant treatment.

Fees and Payment Plans

We offer reasonable fees which are less than a typical Bay Area private dental office, and make financial arrangements to help each patient achieve proper care on an individual basis. Most insurance plans are accepted including private insurance and DentiCal/MediCal. PLEASE NOTE: There are many different types of plans under DentiCal, and we do not accept all of them. Some DentiCal plans, particularly Medicare Advantage Plans (also known as Part C), include an HMO insurance component, and we cannot accept these plans.

When you call our intake staff to be registered, we will gather your DentiCal information and check what type of plan you have, and we will contact you and let you know if we cannot accept your insurance here, prior to your first appointment.

Flexible payment plans are available for qualified patients. We also accept cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.

How to Become a Patient

New implant patients are seen by appointment through their existing student dentist. Please contact your student dentist who will schedule an examination, obtain a full diagnosis of all existing dental concerns and create a comprehensive treatment plan with your input. If implants are part of the treatment plan, an appointment for consultation with the implant team will be made. If you are not already a patient of the dental school, please follow the steps to become a patient in our Main Clinic. No direct referrals for implants from practitioners outside the dental school are accepted.

What to Expect at Your First Visit

Your first visit with the implant team will be managed through your student dentist. Records will be needed including X-rays and molds of your mouth. The number and type of X-rays needed will depend on the nature of your dental needs. Implant faculty will participate in an examination of your mouth and confer with you on your needs and expectations. Eventually, we will discuss treatment options, a timeline for treatment (which is usually many months or up to a year in length) and costs and payment options. In most cases, multiple appointments are necessary.
