A World of Continuing Dental Education in the New Year

Plan to travel and learn in 2024. In addition to its extensive selection of in-person and online courses, the Continuing Dental Education (CDE) division at University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry is offering several symposiums in the new year.

The programs are open to dental professionals at all stages of their careers.

29th Annual Pacific/UCSF Island Dental Colloquium — Feb. 12-16, 2024

Returning to Maui, the Island Dental Colloquium offers 20 units of CE and features quality speakers on varied topics: One Pill Good, Two Pills Better? How and Why Our Dental Patients Self-Medicate in a Post-Pandemic World presented by Thomas Viola, RPh, CCP; Managing Restorative Challenges with Adjunctive Orthodontic Treatment by Arun B. Sharma, BDS, MSc; and Periodontal and Peri-implant Tissue Phenotype: Current Concepts and Future Directions by Guo-Hao (Alex) Lin, DDS, MS.

The island of Maui is encouraging respectful travel there to help sustain local employment and keep the economy alive. Special hotel group rates are available at the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa; the hotel booking deadline is Jan. 19. In addition, a variety of airlines are offering great prices on flights to/from Maui.

4th International Bone Symposium in Implant Dentistry — March 2–3, 2024

This comprehensive bone grafting symposium will offer oral surgeons, periodontists, prosthodontists and general dental practitioners the unique opportunity to expand their knowledge base and comfort level with surgical implant dentistry. You will learn from the field’s top international authorities (speakers hail from the USA, Switzerland, South Korea, Japan and Italy) who will provide the most current, clinically relevant information on ridge preservation, bone grafting, bone augmentation and modern bone regeneration techniques. Early bird tuition pricing applies to registrations received by Feb. 2.

38th Annual Charles A. Sweet, Sr. Pediatric Dentistry Memorial Lecture — April 20, 2024

Dr. Priyanshi Ritwik will speak on the topics of Treating Dental Trauma to Achieve Predictable Results; Pulp Therapy for Primary Teeth; and Aesthetic Solutions for Primary Teeth. This annual program, honoring Dr. Charles A. Sweet, Sr., the “father of pedodontics,” is specifically geared to pediatric dentists but is open to general practitioners and the entire dental team. Participants will earn 6 CE units and will have the opportunity to connect with colleagues during breakfast and lunch.

59th Annual Colonel Allyn D. Burke Memorial Dental Symposium — June 7-8, 2024

This annual travel program in Monterey offers 14 units of CE and features three expert speakers. Presentations include: 7 Habits for Highly Successful Implant Restorations by Chandur Wadhwani, DDS, MSD; The Practice of Surgical Pathology Relating to Oral Care: Past, Present and Future by Austin Davies, DDS, MS, and Medical Implications in Dentistry: How Aging, Pharmacology and Head and Neck Radiation Treatment Affect Oral Health by Paul Subar, DDS, EdD. Special hotel rates are available at the Marriott Monterey, which is conveniently located next to the Monterey Conference Center.
